New on Netflix

Thank you Netflix for partnering with my family. I am a proud member of the #StreamTeam

Have you seen what’s coming up on Netflix this year?! Is it just me or does the Netflix originals just get better and better? I have seen different threads about it going around the interwebs and it seems everyone is loving them. There are a few that we are super stoked for and counting down the days to the premieres.

Dreamworks Dragons: Race to the Edge. It’s time for season 6. The wilds have been hooked from the beginning. We absolutely love this series!

Have you seen the trailer for Altered Carbon?? This show definitely looks like it’s right up my alley. In the distant future, human consciousness can be digitized and downloaded into different bodies. Brought back to life after 250 years by Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy) the richest man on Earth, ex-Envoy soldier Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman / Will Yun Lee) must solve Bancroft’s attempted murder for the chance to live again in a world he doesn’t recognize.

Ahh it looks so good!! Mark the calendar for Feb 2nd!

I am personally excited for Trolls: The Beat Goes On! I just think are totally adorable. And nostalgic for me since I collected trolls when I was a kid. This series has actually already started. I am going to binge it this weekend with or without the kids ;) How do I look as a troll?!

This is just the iceberg of what is on tap this year on Netflix. What are you most looking forward to seeing?

January

Wow! January is already flying by. The wilds went back to school on Tuesday and I went back to the office. I spent last week working from home. It was nice to get back to our normal routines this week. Work is blowing up…in a good way! My team has set a pretty hefty goal for this year and we are already well on our way.

Little by little we are getting things accomplished in the house. As soon as I have a bit more finished I’ll do a home tour. I feel like there is always a project to do. Since this was new construction it was a blank canvas. It’s been fun making it ours. There is just so much to do when you are doing a whole house!

The wilds are good. Nathan started Math Club today. He’s a little intimidated but I think this will be good for him. Both boys love math. They definitely do not get that from their momma. Logan finally joined the rest of us and has glasses. John and I always knew our boys would need help in the sight department because we both have horrible sight. We also found out that Logan is also color blind like this brother. What are the odds?!

I hope your new year has treated you well so far. I’m setting some writing goals for myself so you should see more of me around here!

Goodbye 2017

2017 was a mixed bag for us. It started out ok and then quickly took a nose dive when we learned John would be losing his job. Thankfully he found an even better job so it turned out to be a blessing for us. I’m looking forward to moving on to 2018. I have a feeling it’s going to be a great year!

Tonight we are going to have a low key celebration with some of the neighbors. We always celebrate this holiday with the boys. Are you looking for a cute countdown for the kids? Netflix has several to choose from. You can take a look at the list here.

From my family to yours Happy New Year!

Indiana Chinese Lantern Festival

So as I mentioned in my last post I am now a digital writer for Indy’s Child. I could not be more excited about this new opportunity. I think it is going to give me the push that I need to dive back into writing head first. I have vowed to make 2018 my year. It’s back to my passions of writing, blogging, and healthy living.

My first assignment was Indiana Chinese Lantern Festival. Wow! I didn’t quite know what to expect but I was blown away. It was truly magical. You can read my review here. My mom and I took the wilds. They were completely mesmerized. When it was time to go they did not want to leave. And it was the coldest night we have had this year thus far. So now for the photo dump…

Please do yourself a favor and go see these lanterns for yourself. I promise it will be an experience like no other!

Hustle & Bustle

What a busy month it has been here in K House! We have done so many fun holiday activities. My heart is full. The season started off with our annual tradition of cutting down our Christmas tree. We always have so much fun doing this. The boys really get a kick out of going to the farm, picking the perfect tree, and chopping it down. The weather this year was perfect!

My mom bakes cookies and candy with all of the grand kids every year. This year she wanted to try something different. We decided to do a cookies and canvas class. It was so much fun. The kids and the adults had such a great a time. I really want to go back and do an adult class now.

We headed to Cincinnati for the Festival of Lights. It was so beautiful. The last time I had been was probably 12 years ago. It was snowing and it was magical. That night is probably my favorite memory this holiday season thus far. The Zoo really knows how to put on a great Christmas display!

On our way back from Cincinnati we made a stop in Connersville, IN where we caught a train to the North Pole. You may have heard of it…the Polar Express! It was so cute and such a fun ride. The boys each had their golden tickets punched by the conductor. We sipped hot chocolate (never ever let it cool!) and picked up Santa. He gave each of the kids a sleigh bell.

And of course our holiday season would not be complete without a trip to Sullivan’s. We absolutely love this little gem. We discovered it last year and it will be on our list for years to come. The real Santa is here! Need I say more?!

We also visited the Indiana Chinese Lantern Festival. Did I mention I am now writing for Indy’s Child Magazine online?! It was my first assignment. The festival deserves a post of it’s own. So stay tuned. But I will leave you with a teaser picture!

What fun holiday activities are on your list?

I have fallen off that wagon hard (I have the bruises to prove it) but am tracking to jump back on! We are a very active family and love the great outdoors! I'm a book nerd and read everything I can get my hands on -- including the shampoo bottles in the shower!
