Wow. What an amazing weekend. My first blogging conference was a major success. I truly feel like I learned so much. Now, the hard part. Putting it all into action. I was surrounded by so many talented women. It was very inspiring and insanely motivating. I loved that everyone was all about helping each other. These ladies truly want to share the wealth.
Friday was arrival day. I got to Baltimore at about 2:30 in the afternoon. A bunch of the bloggers were meeting at a local restaurant, Alonso’s. Lunch was great. The very wonderful and super friendly Laura Jo from Welcome To Grand Central greeted me immediately. I ate lunch with her Lisa, Michelle, and Kathi. It was a great start to the weekend.
It was then time to check in at Notre Dame of Maryland. All of the faculty was very welcoming. I went up to my dorm room to get settled. This was the only negative. The rooms were horrible. I had no idea what to expect having never lived on a campus. My roommate arrived shortly after I did. Emelie was great. We also had a shared bathroom with the room next to us. Thankfully those gals were awesome.
Friday night we had dinner and a cocktail party. I went to the party with our bathroom roomies, Audrey and Megim. We had a beer tasting with Full Tilt Brewing. I’m not much of a beer drinker but I did indulge. My favorite was the Raspberry. They also had an open mic at the party. It was a really great low key evening.
Saturday morning I was up at about 5AM. The sun rises entirely too early in Baltimore. If we want to get technical I really didn’t sleep. Worst night’s sleep ever. But it helped that I was anxious to get the classes started. They offered four time blocks for the sessions. I am very pleased with the ones I decided to take. I have so many notes to go through. We had lunch with NickMom and HuffPost Parents.
I was on information overload after the sessions. We had about two hours before dinner and prom. Audrey, Megim, Jessica, and I decided to go rouge for dinner. We needed real food. We consulted Yelp, jumped in the car, and ended up in a very cool part of town. The area is called Hampden. We did a little shopping and then ended up at The Food Market. It was delicious! I ordered the crab cake and lobster mac and cheese. I could not go to Baltimore and not have crab. Dinner was wonderful.
We headed back to campus to get ready for Retro Prom. They had the gym decorated so fun! Everyone looked great. We drank and danced the night away. I had a fabulous time. NickMom was the party sponsor. They did a fabulous job. Everyone was having a blast.
Sunday morning was our closing ceremony. The faculty handed out really fun awards to some of the attendees. Jen Rian got voted best dance moves. She is super cute and tiny! It was then time to say goodbye. I dropped Audrey off at the airport on my way. She was awesome. Out of everyone over the weekend her and I hit it off great. I felt like I’ve known her for years. I can see a lasting friendship. The connections that I made was my favorite part of the weekend. Blog U was a definite success!
