Did you get hit by Storm Jonas this weekend? We sure did here in Richmond, VA. Our neighborhood got about 16 inches of snow. It’s the most this area has seen in a very long time. I’m from the Midwest so I am used to the snow. We got more than I would have liked but we made the most of the it. To tell you the truth it was nice being snowed in for a few days with my family.
The storm came in on Friday around 10AM. John and I spent much of the day shoveling while the wilds were sledding. Our neighbor’s yard is a hill. It’s the perfect spot for them to sled. They stayed outside pretty much all day. Oh to see the world through our children’s eyes. Things that we see as a inconvenience, they turn into fun. That evening we had impromptu snow party with the culdesac in our neighbor’s driveway. We lit the fire pit, warmed up with some libations, and shoveled a few driveways of older folks on the street. It was a great time had by all.
Saturday I spend most of the day recovering from the night before. Again, John kept up on the shoveling and the boys went sledding. That afternoon John took them over to the school to go tubing. The wind was horrid and it was freezing cold but they didn’t mind. They had a blast. They were busy making memories with their dad that I hope they will remember forever.
Yesterday the snow had finally ceased and we were able to get our driveway and cars cleared. Again, we went around helping neighbors that needed to be dug out. It was so wonderful to hear how appreciative they were. One of the older ladies just kept saying how she couldn’t think us enough. She told us she would pray for us. How sweet :) I’ve said it over and over but I really love our neighborhood. Such great people here. We took the boys back to school for tubing. I even went down the hill a couple of times. It was a great family day.
Now we are here at Monday. The boys are out of school today. To tell you the truth I am not sure when they will be back to school. I don’t see this snow going anywhere anytime soon. We will just try to make the best of it.
Did Jonas come through your area? Do you enjoy the snow or like to hibernate?
