Have you heard? Minions are coming to your home TV. My family is super excited. The wilds have always loved the minions. Minions movie Blu-Ray/DVD combo pack will be out on December 8th. We have preordered our copy and are busy planning our movie night. I thought Minions Caramel Apples would be the perfect treat. They are fun to make and taste delicious.
These apples take a little bit of work but the end result is worth it. I will tell you it is easier and more doable to just decorate one side of these apples. With a little patience and a big imagination your apples will come to life. My wilds flipped when they saw these minions caramel apples waiting for them.
I found these Caramel Apple wraps and they worked like a charm. You peel it from the paper, drape it over your apple, microwave for 20 seconds, and work the caramel around the apple. My apples were a bit big so I had to add more caramel from another sheet. Get smaller apples and you should be fine with one sheet per apple.
For the head I used yellow sprinkles. Wet the caramel with a little water and the sprinkles will stick easier. Rather than rolling the apple in the sprinkles, you will want to press them on with your hands. This will keep the sprinkles from breaking. For the body I used blue sugar crystals. Put them on the same way you put on the sprinkles. To attach the eyeball put a little piece of caramel on the back and stick it on.
I used black sparkle gel to draw on the goggles, mouth, and hair. Take your time and pipe these on slowly since the texture of the sprinkles can be a bit tricky. Also, watch how thick you make the gel. If you use too much it will want to run. Push the stick down through the middle of the top. Your minions caramel apples are ready for movie night!

Wet the caramel where you want to body to be and press on the blue sugar crystals. Use a small piece of caramel and stick to the back on the candy eye and stick on the apple.
