Wow, it’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks. I took an unintentional blogging break the past week. Over the weekend we were in Chicago. It was so much fun. We always have a great time visiting my brother in law and his fiance. The wedding is quickly approaching and I am so excited for them. It was a quick trip but we spend lots of quality time with the happy couple.
Friday evening we had dinner at Taus Authentic. I really enjoyed it. It’s a great new restaurant. The food was delicious. I had the Fluke dish. The fish was cooked perfectly and the roasted cauliflower was finger licking good. There is a great bar area with couches and fireplaces. It was nice and cozy and I could have stayed all night.
Saturday morning we had brunch at Feast. I had a choose your own omelet. It came with a side of potatoes. These potatoes were no joke. They were huge and cooked just right. They were nice and soft on the inside and just the right amount of crispy on the outside. So good. After brunch we hung out on Tom’s rooftop for a bit. It was windy but the sun was shining and it was beautiful.
For the afternoon the guys went golfing and the girls headed to Michigan Avenue. I love walking in and out of all the stores down there. We ended at Eataly. What a cool place! It’s a huge Italian market. I could have spent all day in there. There was so much to look at and explore. I definitely would love to go back when we have more time.
For dinner Allison made homemade pizzas. They were so tasty. I really need to try this sometime. I didn’t realize how easy it is. We also surprised John Sr. with a Batman birthday cake. He loved it. The evening was great and filled with love. Spending quality family time is so important to me. Since we don’t see each other as often as we’d like we always make the most of it.
Wedding countdown is on! Memorial Day will be here before we know it.
