We spent a wonderful weekend in western Virginia. We were able to tag along on John’s work trip. We drove out to Roanoke on Friday. We dropped John off and the wilds and I went to the Science Museum. The boys had a ball exploring for a couple of hours. It was fairly small but kept them entertained.
Saturday afternoon we drove out to Cascade Falls. It had been pouring all day long. As soon as we parked the rain stopped and the sun even came out for a bit. The hike was two miles to the falls and two miles back. We took the more scenic route getting to the falls. We definitely had to keep a hand on the boys. The water was rushing from all the rain. Cascade Falls was beautiful. I’m so glad the weather held out for us.
On Sunday we went to Natural Bridge and the Caverns. The bridge is massive. You really have to see it in person to appreciate it. The cave was really cool. It’s the wildest cave you can tour in the United States. The opening is not completely sealed so it allows wildlife to get in and out.
It was such a great weekend with my boys. We love the outdoors so this trip was right up our alley. I hope it’s trips like these the boys remember for a lifetime :)
