I was invited to the new Chuy’s Restaurant here in my city. The night before opening they held a Taste & Talk event. We got to sample several menu offerings and drinks. Chuy’s originated in Texas. This is their second Richmond area location. I was super stoked to learn that it just minutes down the road from my house.
Upon arriving we were introduced to the Unlimited Nacho Bar. This is offered complimentary in the bar and available during happy hour. It was so much fun! Who doesn’t love nachos?! They are make your own! You control what and how much goodness you pile on top. They could have just fed me this all night and I would have been happy! But that was just the beginning!
Next they brought around their Margarita on the Rocks sample. It went down very smooth. That was followed by their Tortilla Soup. The soup was hands down the best Tortilla Soup I have ever had. The flavor was spot on. It also had avocado in it! Avocado is one of my favorite foods! Everyone was raving about this soup!
Next up was the frozen Strawberry Margarita with fresh squeezed lime juice. So fresh and delicious! It really hit the spot. That was followed by the Chicka-Chicka Boom Boom. This was my favorite dish of the night! The Boom Boom sauce is finger licking good. It is cheese, roasted New Mexican green chiles, tomatillos, green onions, cilantro and lime juice. The flavor combo is out of this world. I highly recommend this dish.
Then out came the “mini” Steak Burrito. There was nothing mini about it. It was huge. The server said it’s one of the spiciest items they carry. It was divine! I love spicy food. The steak was perfect. It was paired with the New Mexican Margarita. This margarita also has a spice to it. It was my favorite drink of the night. It had just the perfect kick to it.
Last but certainly not least was dessert! Tres Leches Cake! It was so good that I ate mine and my mom’s piece. I couldn’t help myself. It was very light and just the right amount of richness. It was very moist and just the perfect piece of cake. The Classic Sangria came around with it. Yum! I think I finished the sangria in one gulp.
I have to say the best part of this experience was the customer service. From the hostess, to the servers, to the bar tenders, to the managers, everyone was outstanding. We had a few questions and everyone was happy to answer. We were promptly tended to in every aspect of the evening. I was thoroughly impressed.
Bravo Chuy’s! You have found a lifelong customer in me. I cannot wait to go back for more!
