Mud Endeavor was awesome! Since I ran one last year I was more confident this time around. Waves filled up really quick so we ran a little later than we are used to. A cold front came through Saturday morning. It was a bit chilly when we first got there. The sun came out right before we took off.
We checked in and warmed up a bit. I was fighting my normal prerace jitters. We took our place at the front (we always start at the front so we don’t have to weave around people). 10, 9, 8….2, 1, BOOM!! And we are off. The first obstacle got me. We had to crawl under then over then under then over. I misjudged how low the first tube was and rammed into it with my back. Ouch! My back started spasming. I walked a bit and worked it out.
I got back into my groove. I was feeling pretty good until I tweaked my butt somehow. I think I did it when climbing up and over this huge wall. After that I could not do anymore walls. Correction: I probably could have forced myself but I didn’t want to injure it worse. I did every other obstacles. My running pace felt pretty good. The mud was real mud! Dark, thick, and awesome. Last time it was more sandy.

We finished just over 52 minutes. I feel pretty good about that time. Last time we finished in one hour and one minute. John felt like he could turn around and run it again. I placed 20 out of 170 females in my age group. I’ll take it! It was so much fun. I always love doing these races with John. Mud Endeavor is coming back for a night race in July. I’m still on the fence about it but thinking I will probably sign up.
Have you ever done a mud race?
