I asked John if he would run with me and help me get my first 5k of the new year. He agreed. I was nervous but felt confident. I had no clue how it was going to go. I mean I've been cross training and running on the treadmill but that's different. We warmed up really good and off we went.
First mile I felt amazing. I concentrated on my breathing and watched my footing. 10 minute pace. Second mile started struggling a bit but felt good for the most part. 10:48 pace. Third mile was rough. My body was definitely fighting me. I felt a little lightheaded at the end. I keep saying "I can't do it". Then I'd get back in the game and keep going. Third mile 10:47. Then I finally finished!!!
I proved to myself that despite my blood pressure issues and my heart's new speed (it runs a little slower these days) I can do it. I can freaking do it!!! I'm excited to get back to a regular running schedule. I'm hoping to be ready for a 5 mile race the middle of March.
I have some yummy healthy recipes that I will share next week. I've been a pinning fool and so far everything has turned out great. How'd your fitness go this week?

I need you to share that mojo...my motivation went out the window after the color run. Now with this knee injury, I'm scared to run. I miss it.
That's awesome! I love your positivity!
Right now I'm focusing so much on what I'm eating that my actual fitness has been put aside.... but I'm happy to say I went and kicked butt at the gym today! (Hurray for snow days:)

Wow! well done on the 10 minute miles. Hoping to get there one day in the near future. Thanks for stopping by my blog. I'm loving the way I feel after eating when I've drank the juice. I don't feel like my meal is sitting in my stomach. Feel so much better. Hope your health stay good and you do a great 5k when you get to do it.

Wow, well done! Really puts me to shame, I am still talking about running again and using the weather as an excuse.
Have a great weekend.

Yay for running again! I'm trying to start up again, too, but I keep getting sick. Thanks for the inspiration!!
Way to go! So exciting that even after your break from outdoor running, you haven't slowed down too much. This speed bump you have run into is going to be a thing of the past very soon.
say what???
that's amazing Jen. i'll be lucky if i could get my ass up working out even for 5 minutes.
i should start somewhere too.
