GrillSmith Yelp Style

Last night John & I finally got a date night!! The last time we went out was for my birthday back in November. This night was well overdue. Earlier in the week it was confirmed that I was on the list for my first Yelp Elite event! If you don't know what that is look it up immediately! You need to be a part of Yelp.

We left a little earlier so we could grab a drink before the party. We stopped at Whiskey Joe's. It sits right on the bay. I'd love to go back some time when we can stay longer. The view from our table at the bar was very pretty. They also have a beach bar. John told me boats pull up in the summer to have drinks there.
Next stop GrillSmith in Clearwater. We had never eaten here before so I was excited to see what they had to offer. They did not disappoint. Heavy h'orderves and our first round of drinks was complimentary. It was plenty of food. The servers will all very nice and very professional.

We got checked in, name tags on, and went to find a place to sit. Yelp swag was on every table. The party was set up on the patio. It was nice and cozy. They also had the heaters on because it was a chilly night. It worked out perfectly. They did a really good job with the decor for the evening. Brett, the community manager, stopped by to introduce himself. It was nice to finally meet him.

We tried all of the food except for the Tuna. We were a few minutes late so I think we missed that one. Everything we did try was delicious. John's favorite was the Cajun Shrimp & Chicken. This dish was right up his alley. He also really loved the Filet Tip Egg Rolls. My favorite was the dessert. What can I say chocolate takes my heart every time. The Chocolate Decadence was divine. I would go back just for the dessert!

Throughout the night I was live tweeting the event. They were holding a twitter contest for the most creative photos taken during the party. You know I love me some twitter. Come follow me @jvkom. John and I were having fun trying to come up with photo ideas. It was nice laid back evening.

I wasn't feeling well the entire night. Around 8:30 we decided to call it a night. As we were leaving I heard someone calling my name. Ends up I was one of the twitter winners!! I met the social media manager for GrillSmith. It was nice to finally see her face. I had been tweeting with her earlier in the week. I won a $25 gift card!!

My first Yelp Elite Event was definitely a success. GrillSmith was a fantastic host. Even if I hadn't won the gift card we would be going back. I'd love to try some of their entrees. If the entrees are half as good as the appetizers then we are in for a real treat. I just wish I could have mingled with the other Yelpers. Next time when I'm feeling better I will definitely make my rounds.

Have you ever been to GrillSmith? What do you think?

Yay! Glad you had fun at your first Yelp event! I couldn't make it to the ones this week...but hoping to be at Burger 21 and at the Longhorn Steakhouse one. Maybe I'll meet you in person at one of those!
