I seriously cannot believe that Thanksgiving is Thursday! Where has the time gone?! After Thanksgiving comes the most important day of the year for us retail families. As I’ve mentioned before John works in retail. Black Friday is the make it or break it day of the year. It is very bittersweet.
I’m a ball of nerves all day wondering how it’s going. I also worry if John is pushing himself to hard, which he always does. It is what they prepare for all year. I’m always on edge until he arrives safely back home Friday evening.
This year things are a bit different. They are opening at 10PM Thanksgiving night. That means he needs be in by 8PM. We live an hour from his store. So he needs to leave by 7PM and won’t get home until probably 9PM the next day. Yep, over 24 hrs for his shift. He gets a 6 hr break. But again we live an hour away so it’s not worth it for him to drive home. This is the first year that it’s really cutting into our holiday
and giving me ulcers.
The point of this post is just to remind everyone out there to be nice. Remember what the season is all about. Keep in mind that the employees are doing their best. They have cut their holiday short to open up early to bring you the deals. Try to be patient. There will be lines. There will be people everywhere. A smile goes a long way. Keep the spirit of Christmas and the reason for the season at the forefront of your day.
