I’m back with round 2 of This City, is my City. This is the Cincinnati edition. My hubs is from Cincy so it’s my 2nd home. If you missed round 1 check it out here.
I’ve mentioned before that Cincinnati runs through John’s blood. He is a die hard Cincinnatian. He is a huge Reds and Bengals fan. And in turn he has converted me. I now love all things Reds. I’d pick the Bengals over the Colts any day….I know all my Indy peeps are gasping and disowning me.
We got married in Cincinnati. It is known as the Queen City. It is also the city of seven hills, built on seven hills just like Rome. It is Ohio’s 3rd largest city. The Ohio River runs right through downtown. It is also home to the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University. Go Bearcats!
Cincinnati hosts the Flying Pig Marathon every year. For an interesting story on how the name Flying Pig came about check it out here. Summers are hot and humid and winters are cold and snowy. Cincinnati is about as Midwestern as you can get.
The city hosts lots of festivals throughout the year. Some of our favorites are Reds Opening Day, Oktoberfest, Tall Stacks, Taste of Cincinnati and the Riverfest Fireworks. These festivals are some of the things I miss most now that we’re in Florida.
Cincinnati has been called the Chili Capital of the World. There are more chili restaurants per capita than any other city in the nation or world. If you have never experienced Cincinnati style chili you have been missing out. I guarantee it is like no other chili you have had before. Our favorite is Skyline. Good thing for us there is actually a Skyline Chili over in Clearwater.
Cincinnati really is a very cool city. There are plenty of things to see and do. I love it when we go back and visit. I feel really at home when I’m there. Hope you’ve enjoyed this peek at Cincinnati. Next up in this series is Medina, Ohio.
