Yesterday marked the beginning of the rest of my life. I am on my way to a happier, healthier me. John has been talking about signing up for a race this year. So Sunday he did! And that snowballed into signing Nate up for his first race too! And, wait for it, I signed up for a race too! Yep, moi. The girl who would in gym class strive to get the slowest time on the mile. I hate running. Always have. But you know what. I will never accomplish anything if I don’t start getting out of my comfort zone. So I’m diving in head first!
The race John and I are doing is the Mud Crusade. I am super excited! I started training today. I am doing the couch to 5k program. It’s 3 days a week for 9 weeks. The race is in 12 weeks. So that should give me plenty of time to prepare. I have also started tracking my calories. I’m using myfitnesspal.com. It helps keep me accountable for what I am putting in my body.
It hit me the other day that while there are a lot of things in life that I cannot change, there are things that I can change. And my lifestyle is something I have control over. So I will concentrate on that. I will make health and happiness a priority in our family. Happier mommy = Happier hubby and kids.
Before signing up for the race John kept asking me if I’m sure I can do it. And no I’m not sure, it’s something I’ve never done. But if I don’t at least try then I will never know. I don’t want to live my life with what ifs. I want to live my life with, I did it!!
